Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion

Ever since Aveeno was launched in the country I’ve heard so many great things about the brand firstly that all their products are made from natural ingredients and secondly that they are suitable for dry, sensitive skin and all skin conditions so I had to try it out for myself and see what all the fuss is about. I recently got the opportunity to try the Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion.

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion harnesses the concentrated goodness of finely-milled, naturally active Colloidal Oatmeal which is a rich mixture of components found in oat seed that have the ability to seal in moisture to help protect the skin’s moisture. The special properties of Oat give it an enhanced ability to absorb moisture and soothe dry, itchy, irritated skin. Oatmeal can help restore skin’s pH and aid in the maintenance of skin’s moisture barrier to help prevent and protect dry skin.

The lotion is gentle enough for everyday use and it is suitable for sensitive skin, it is fragrance free (so it doesn’t irritate the skin), non-greasy and non-comedogenic (doesn’t clog pores). It is clinically proven to moisturise for 24 hours and help restore skin’s natural barrier function to significantly improve the condition of dry skin in just 2 weeks.

The Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion comes in a 200ml beige tube with a green flip cap that easily opens and safely secures the product in the tube so there is no leakage. The bottle has a green label which states that it is a ‘daily moisturising lotion’, the green differentiates the daily moisturising lotion from the other Aveeno ranges, there is also a picture of an Oat plant on the tube showing that it contains Oats in the formula.

The lotion is white in colour and has a thick firm texture not thin and runny like most lotions, it feels smooth and creamy and has a woody scent which is from the Oats in the formula. Due to its thick formula the lotion is not fast-absorbing so it needs to be rubbed into the skin till it absorbs and it doesn’t spread easily so a lot of product is needed.

The hydration is not instant but I feel it after a couple of minutes once the lotion is fully absorbed into my skin. I haven’t experienced that before with any body lotions and creams that I’ve used, either there was instant hydration or nothing at all so it was strange that I only felt it after a couple of minutes and not instantly. My skin also felt moisturised after the lotion was applied and absorbed, the hydration is long-lasting so the lotion does not need to be reapplied throughout day so I’m glad that it has kept to its promise of 24 hour hydration.

My skin feels smooth and soft and doesn’t feel sticky, greasy or oily, the lotion feels so light on my skin yet rich and nourishing. I found that the lotion soothes my eczema rashes and hydrated them so it wasn’t itchy and inflamed like it was before using it. In just 2 weeks of use I could already see an improvement in my skin it was left feeling and looking healthy.

I’m really impressed with the lotion as it delivered what it promised on the packaging so I understand why everyone loves it and it is rich, nourishing and hydrating for winter and light and moisturising for summer. However I feel that the tube is too small, the lotion has a thick texture which means that you would have to use more of it especially in winter when skin is drier than usual. The tube didn’t last long, to be honest it only lasted for 2 weeks and I found myself cutting up the tube to make sure that I get every last bit of the product. I would love to try the other Aveeno products like the body wash and creams to see how well they work on my dry, sensitive, eczema prone skin.
