Kangol Tropical Paradise: Summer

Hi ladies, happy new year! I hope you all had an amazing festive season and that you are ready to take on the new year. Kangol launched some really impressive products for summer, the Tropical Paradise Summer range is a continuation of the previous range which you can find out more about here. Skin still stays glowy and bronzed while centre stage moves to the eyes and nails introducing a new double ended eyeliner and beautiful bright nail varnishes. Not only does one want to look dazzling all summer long but also smell great and Kangol launched a perfume to keep you smelling tropical all summer long or all year long ๐Ÿ˜‰.

The products which form part of the Tropical Paradise Summer range are: Kangol Tropical Paradise Perfume, Kangol Double Ended Liquid Liner and four eye popping nail varnishes.

Kangol Tropical Paradise Perfume

Kangol Tropical Paradise Perfume shouts summer with its beautiful tropical printed box which holds a 50ml thin long rounded bottle sporting the same tropical design which is transparent.

The scent opens up with floral notes, at first it is a bit strong but once settled you get hints of citrus and papaya. It completely settles to soft fruity and floral notes which lasts all day.

This is the perfect perfume for summer and can be used everyday without having to reapply it throughout the day as the summery scent is long-lasting. It is also affordable as it retails for R159.00.

Kangol Double Ended Liquid Liner โ€˜Tucan Black

When I receive products to review I normally take pictures of the products before using them but I was so excited to try this product out that I immediately used it. After 2-3 uses the label started to rub off which is why it’s all faded in the pictures.

I’m kinda obsessed with a winged eye I feel like it can often pull an entire look together and if you are going out and not sure what to do with your makeup a winged eye can save the day or night as it looks great without any eyeshadow, paired with a bold lip or even a simple glossy lip. You can also wear a subtle winged eye during the day and extend it and make it thicker and bolder for a night out. Winged eyes is something that I always sport it kinda has become my signature makeup look.

The one side of the Kangol Liquid Liner has a angled felt tip while the other end has a pointed felt tip. I find that felt tips work best for me, it makes application so much more easier and quicker compared to a brush tip, a felt tip is what I always look for when purchasing a liquid liner, its firm and won’t bend and mess up the wing.

Before using the liner I like to first give it a good shake. With most pen eyeliners the liquid normally leaks out when you shake the pen and if the tip is pressed too hard but I had no problems of that sort with this eyeliner.

The slanted tip can be used as a stamp to outline the wing, to fill in the wing and to drag the wing to the lid. The pointed side allows for more precision and can be used to fill in, line the lid and to make the wing more pointed. The liquid liner dries down to a glossy finish, it stays put throughout the day without fading, smudging or rubbing off. It is also very easy to remove with a face wash and warm water or any eye makeup remover.

What I love about this eyeliner is that unlike most liquid liners this one does not make my eyelashes stick at the base which makes it difficult to brush out and to apply mascara. The Kangol Double Ended Liquid Liner is so convenient and easy to use and you can create unique winged looks using both ends. The liquid liner is also great for beginners to practice with. This has become my favourite product and one that I will be using often, I would love for Kangol to bring out more shades ๐Ÿ˜‰. This magic wand retails for R89.00 which is very reasonable.

Kangol Nail Varnishes

With this range Kangol launched four summery shades of nail polishes.

The four shades are:

  • Tropical: this is a beautiful mint green colour which is very pigmented. Two coats is perfect for a full and even coverage.

  • Beverley Hills: this really stood out to me it’s a bright bold yellow which reminds me of the minions ๐Ÿ˜Š. One coat of this shade doesn’t give full even coverage but 2-3 coats gives perfect even and full coverage. This colour really pops on the nails.

  • Pineapple Salsa: this is a stunning bright orange shade but not a typical orange colour it’s a mixture of coral and peach. I wore this shade this past weekend and because of the name I was inspired to make pineapple salsa the entire weekend ๐Ÿ˜Š. The texture of this nail polish is thicker compared to the other three so it applies on a bit streaky. With a thicker textured polish its important to wait until the first coat is completely dry before applying on the second coat. 2-3 coats gives a nice full and even coverage.

  • Paradise Party: this nail polish is like a party in a bottle! It’s a sheer polish loaded with lots of shiny tiny and medium sized glitter. This is perfect as a topper over any nail polish, used on the accent nail and also looks great on its own. What I love about this glitter nail polish is that the glitter transfers to nails without having to fish for it.

Quick tips: if you want your nail polish to last longer apply on a glitter nail polish or a glitter top coat. Glitter nail polish is difficult to remove, what works best is soaking your nails like they do at the nail salon with acrylics and gel polishes. All you have to do is take small pieces of cotton wool that can cover the entire nail, apply nail polish remover onto the cotton wool until it is completely soaked and place it on each glitter nail, make sure it’s completely covered then wrap foil over making sure that the cotton wool stays in place underneath the foil. Leave it to soak for 5 minutes then remove by dragging the foil wrapped cotton wool off each nail this will remove most of the glitter nail polish and loosen any remaining glitter.

Below I created two simple and easy summer inspired nail art (pineapple and mermaid scales) using the four above mentioned Kangol Nail Varnishes.

The Kangol Nail Varnishes retail for R69.00 each.

Kangol products are available exclusively at Truworths Stores nationwide.
