I first seen the Rimmel Magnif’Eyes Eye Contouring Palette on the Rimmel London UK instagram page and was hoping that we would get them in SA not long after I came across them in Clicks and literally jumped with joy (that’s how much I love make-up 😊).
The palette is quite small and there are three palettes available I chose the one that has more neutral shades, something that I could use every day and also take with me on my travels as it is so compact and has a little mirror on the inside.
Soon after that I seen the cutest Rimmel Blushes the Rimmel Royal Blush and I thought why not do a review on these two product’s as they are so compact to have in your handbag when travelling and perfect for every day use.
Rimmel Magnif’Eyes Eye Contouring Palette
Eye contouring is currently the new make-up trend I have spoken about it quite a few times on the blog and on my social media pages. If you would like to know what eye contouring is and how to contour your eyes according to your eye shape then click here 👈. The new Rimmel Contouring palette also has step by step instructions at the back on which colours to use from the palette to contour your eyes and how to contour according to your eye shape. I bought the palette more for the shades and to use how I would like rather than contouring purposes.
There are three 8-shade Rimmel Magnif’Eyes Eye Contouring Palette’s for multiple eye looks the palettes are: ‘001 Keep Calm & Wear Gold’ which is the one I got it has beautiful neutral brown and golden shades, ‘002 London Nudes Calling’ which has more bronze rusty shades and ‘003 Grunge Glamour’ which have more plum darker tones. The shades are a mixture of high-shimmer and matte. Each palette comes with a duo sponge applicator (I don’t like using those ones I prefer using an eyeshadow brush as it works better) and an integrated mirror. The colours are long-lasting, smear and crease-proof. The eyeshadows can be used wet to line the eyes and give definition (I have not tried this yet).
The ‘001 Keep Calm & Wear Gold’ palette has 3 matte shades (a beige, a light brown and a dark brown), 3 shimmer shades (a warm gold, a light gold and a dark golden brown) and 2 glitter shades (a meduim brown with gold glitter and a dark brown with silver glitter). Sadly the ones which contain the glitter only have it on the top and not throughout the shade. The darker colours are very pigmented whereas the first three lighter shades are barely visible but make a good base colour on the eyes. The first two colours are used (according to the instructions in the back) over the lid and brow bone, the three shades after that are used to add depth and the last three shades are used to contour and define. For a more intense look the darker shade can be applied in the crease and lower lash line. The eyeshadows are easy to blend with minimum fall out.
I did not follow the guidelines when creating this looks.
• I applied the second light shade in the palette over the lid and brow bone
• I used the fourth shimmer gold colour over the lid
• The dark brown, the seventh shade with the gold glitter was used on the crease and outside corner of the eyes to create a smokey look
• And lastly I used the dark shade at the very end to line the lower lash line.
I would love to get my hands on the other two palettes I think they are pretty affordable at R159.95 for 8-shades.
Rimmel Royal Blush
Firstly the Royal Blush is so cute (only 3.5g) and the packaging really stands out, each colour matches the colour of the blush on the inside. The Royal Blush is available in three shades: ‘002 Majestic Pink’ which is a soft dusty pink with slight silver shimmer, ‘003 Coral Queen’ this is a soft peach shade with slight gold shimmer and ‘004 Regal Rose’ which a perfect mauve rose/ neutral brown shade with slight silver shimmer.
Each shade has a soft shimmer which is barely visible it just adds a bit of glow to the cheeks. They are all super soft and creamy and blends really well using just the finger tips but you could also use a blush brush or beauty blender/sponge to blend it in. According to the packaging the Royal Blush is cream to powder, I would say it’s more creamy and doesn’t have a powdery finish more of a natural flushed look which I absolutely love.
The Royal Blush applies on like a dream, it’s long-lasting it can be applied over foundation but looks just as good applied on to bare skin, it is non-greasy, light weight and the colour is definitely buildable. It feels very soft and silky on the skin with a satin finish and really does give your cheeks a very natural soft flush of colour. These are really the perfect every day blush.
I will be travelling overseas for the first time and the palette and blushes will be going with me for those nights when I want to go out partying or when I just want a natural flush of colour on my cheeks for a healthy glow. Cream blush is always perfect to use in hot humid weather and they stay put throughout the day and won’t rub off. It is easy to create a natural no-make make-up look using the eye contouring palette together with the Royal Blush. These are definitely must-have product’s.
