Essence: Velvet Kisses, Forbidden Lashes & Superfine Looks

A couple of months ago Essence released new products which form part of their permanent range among these products are: Essence All About Matt oil-free make-up, Essence Superfine eyeliner pen waterproof, Essence Velvet Stick Matt lip colour and Essence Forbidden Volume Rebel mascara. These are the products that I used to create this look and will also be telling you my thoughts on them:

Essence All About Matt oil-free make-up

I found the perfect shade for my skin tone in the Essence All about matt oil free foundation in ’15 matt cameo’! Essence has come out with more shades for darker ladies which is great. I’m so glad that they are finally catering for the caramel and chocolate babes😉.

This oil-free foundation covers imperfections without clogging the pores and it is long-lasting. Since the foundation has a matte finish on the face so does the packaging. It has a soft creamy texture and applies on evenly, you only need a small amount as a little goes a long way. I found that his foundation did not have a very high coverage but it does even out the skin tone and has a matte finish without making your skin feel dry and tight. What I like about this oil-free foundation is that it does not feel cakey on my skin it has a natural feel and looks natural so it’s perfect for every day use.

Essence Superfine eyeliner pen waterproof

This is an eyeliner pen with a super fine felt tip for precise application and is waterproof which means that it is smudge proof and long lasting. With a super fine tip you can choose to go for a basic thin line along your upper lash line for an everyday look or you can go for a thick winged liner for a night out.

To tell you the truth I was not too happy with the eyeliner, I’d like to think of myself as the winged-eye-expert but it was difficult to work with this liner. The tip kept bending because it is super thin and long and every time I tried to go over my winged liner to make it look darker the eyeliner started to flake:(  I think if the felt tip was a little shorter with the same fine tip it would be easier to control, because it is so long and skinny it keeps bending. To create the winged eye that you see in the pictures I had to clean up a lot with an ear bud, I almost went for the Panda look 🐼🙈. I was kind of disappointed with this product.

Essence Velvet Stick Matt Lip Colour ’05 Plum perfect’

The Velvet stick matt lip colour comes in five different shades. What’s great about a lipstick in a stick form it that you can first line your lips with it and also get a more precise easy application. The velvet stick has such a beautiful soft texture and applies on smoothly. It has a velvet matte finish, what that means is that it is not ultra matte so it is not drying on your lips it is more like a smooth creamy matte finish. I love this shade it’s like a deep red wine colour which is perfect for this season.

Essence Forbidden Volume Rebel Mascara

The wand on this mascara is thick which is what gives your lashes the volume. When I first seen how thick the wand is I thought that the mascara might apply on clumpy but it did not, instead it separated my lashes and made them looking thicker and longer. I absolutely love the volume that this mascara gives my lashes! This mascara is also available in forbidden volume which still gives your lashes volume but not as intense as the forbidden volume rebel.
